The theme for the night was "kids" which prompted me to think of how to draw the characters as junior versions of themselves. This led me into thinking of the Peanuts characters and how much I enjoyed them as a kid... soooooo....

"Nerds and geeks" was one of the topics thrown out for the artjam submission tonight, and I settled on this combination, -mainly because it makes me laugh to see Audrey fulfilling her threats to get physically violent. The moment tonight where Audrey busted out into heavy metal song took the cake for me.

Christmas in July! Who comes up with ideas like this? I had fun drawing this and happily got the idea very early on and so had the time to do all the color work without being rushed. Nice. Hopefully it's not too obvious that I have no experience actually attending activities like this.

The origin of this phrase was a little different when it caught my attention but I wanted to make something more clever than crass and so I modified the wording just enough to suggest this picture and then had fun drawing. Poink's eyes are in recognition of the other phrase similar to this one. :D

I absolutely love simple graphic design appeal and the 1970's are a hallmark for me of this ethos because of the very visible hand-worked nature of the images produced which stands in contrast to the highly polished advertising images you see today through the use of computer tools. There's a definite split in the '70's however. On the one hand you have the 1970's that everyone remembers for horrible clothes and disco, and then there is the 1970's that people seem to forget which encompassed FUNK. Remember the FUNK, people. Remember.

Since Speilberg and Lucas resurrected the corpse of Indiana Jones the theme for the weekend was, of course, Indy. I was a bit rushed with this and wasn't too happy with the drawing but the image cleaned up alright. The gag definitely got a good reaction. :)
